The monastery of Velika Remeta has a church dedicated to St. Demetrius. Traditionally, its foundation is related to King Dragutin Nemanjic (1276-1316), but in all likelihood it was established in late 15th century or the early decades of teh 16th century. The first document in writing reffering to the holy place under the name of Velika Remeta dates from 1562. The monastery's church is a single-naved building with a cupola and a narthex; next to the latter, a bell-tower was erected in 1735. This bell-tower, the tallest one in teh whole of Mt. Fruška Gora and the subregion of srem, was erected owing to the donation of Andreje Andrejovic. As to the monastic quarters, they were built from 1722 to 1771.

Manastir Velika Remeta sa crkvom posvećenoj Sv. Dimitriju predanje vezuje za kralja Dragutina, ali je verovatnije da je nastao krajem 15. veka ili u prvoj decenijama 16. veka. Pod nazivom manastira Velika Remeta pouzdano je zabeležen 1562. godine. Crkva je izvedena kao jednobrodna gradjevina sa kupolom i pripratom uz koju je 1735. godine prizidan zvonik. Visoki barokni zvonik, najviši u Fruškoj Gori, zidan je prilogom Andreje Andrejovića. Konaci su gradjeni od 1722. do 1771. godine.
