Oberland is the local name for the area south of Munich in front of the Bavarian alps. Close to the city, it's a popular destination for day hikes. "Hausberge" is what people in Munich affectionately call these mountains, which are often visible from the center of Munich. Some of them can be crowded on weekends, but there is still lot of space for beautiful solitary hikes.
