Photographer's Note
Situated in the lower part of the Biskupstungur valley between the rivers Hvítá and Brúará, Skálholt is one of Iceland's places of special historical interest. For seven centuries it was the scene of the most dramatic events which shaped the political, spiritual and cultural life in Iceland. Its early history is traced back to the 11th century when religious disputes were at their sharpest in Iceland. Within two centuries of the settlement of Iceland, the first bishopric was founded at Skálholt in 1056 for South Iceland, and soon a second at Hólar in 1109 for North Iceland.
Today, Skálholt is visited for the new cathedral, the tomb of bishops, the museum, and the collection of ancient books in the tower. A public high school is at Skálholt, the school building is used as a hostel in the summer.
Here you can see a version in b&w of this beautiful cathedral :)
...not the best conversion ...but i try my best

Hello Anellise,
Interesting photo, the choice of black and white formatting was brave but it has worked well for you. It helps to solidify the idea that this structure is lonesome and isolated. It also accentuates the beauty of the sky and cloud patterns without the distraction of intense colour. The frame compliments the view very well. Excellent technical details, the quality is superb and composition is simple but effective. TFS.
Borgarfjardharsysla seems a difficult word to pronounce! :)

Hi Anellise,
Good one. Funny to have a clear sky above the church.

Bonjour Anellise,

Hello anes,
I like the conversion, it's soft but brings out the church very good. When the sky would be pitch black than you would loose on the church which is of course the main attraction here. I like it a lot, very good work.

Nice framing of this cathedral with the hole in the clouds in the shape of a heart, Anes, well seen! Iceland is really an unusual country, such desert wouldn't seem to be an appropriate place to build a cathedral but here it "works" really well...
Cheers

hello Anes,
a special architecture, simple without ornaments, typical for Iceland?
It's well placed in the image at the thirds, I do not see a tilt :D
the bw conversion is good for my taste, the sky has been darkened, I appreciate also the hole in the clouds around the tower, giving a very good contrast.
well done!

Hi Anes,
It was your picture that made me take a closer look at it and not "your name below it". This proves that your compositions are so eye-catching, and well composed, that there is no doubt you are a great "light-grapher".
With all the compliments,

Hi Anellise,
very simple and effective composition. And it is the simplicity that brings the strength in your photo, together with the contrast between the grass and the sky. And the heart of course :)

Belle photo de cette cathédrale avec sa croix extérieur, le NB lui va très bien et les détails sont ainsi plus nets. Son clocher est tellement grand qu' il semble trouer ces nuages superbes.

Hi Anellise, I love your B&W treatment on this one and It has great impact. I may have placed the church more to the left of frame but certainly the clouds add much visual interest to your composition. Very nice work..

Hi Annelise,
nice papagolfade well surrounded by the clouds, actually I like the fact the clouds seem to be radiating from it. There is a little halo around the church tower that seems to hint for some PP. I won't comment on the BW since it's not really my cup of tea and there are so many better experts around...

Hi Anellise
You have done a fine B&W conversion but I think I like the cropped version better perhaps because the church is not quite so central. It looks like the sun is behind the church as it provides a glow around the steeple.
Well done.
