Photographer's Note
So! I keep on showing pictures from this skating event.
Time has just past three in the afternoon and daylight is surely running out. so this is the last picture taken that day just before the second lunch break and then going back to the cars.
Tour skating on ice (in Swedish "långfärdsskridskoåkning") is now a popular sport in Sweden. Maybe the best conditions in the world are those found around Stockholm with a considerable number of both large and small lakes plus the extensive nearby archipelago in the Baltic Sea. The smallest lakes may freeze normally in November, although the main season usually starts in December and lasts until March or April. Snow is not a major problem in this part of Sweden because in cold periods there are often areas of unfrozen water that can still freeze, and in mild periods the snow melts down to slush in the daytime and freezes to ice during the night.
The Baltic around Stockholm does not freeze every year, but when it does skating there is a very special experience. The lakes also offer outstanding conditions for great tours. On the large Lake Mälaren it is very popular to skate between the many towns situated along the shores and experienced skaters may skate 100 kilometers or more in a day. Most medium-sized and small lakes are located in very beautiful forest landscapes, giving skating there a special character.

Hi Anders,
Awesome photo ... you've captured and composed the scene superbly. I like low angle and expansive view creating a simple but stunning image. The two men in the water is just adds a wonderful dynamics to the whole image. Excellent work! tfs

Hi Anders,
I'm in love with this emptiness! The good thing is that it is not a popular place...I just see few guys who is interested about having fun on ice (and some photographers too). Great!

Hello Anders! The ice is so glass clear and you would never think that it is actually frozen. Where I live you would most probably have snow on the ice - I am speaking about Switerland. Great composition and I like that you lead our eyes over the frozen water and that you left the people and the forest rather small in the back. Great color work too. Excellent, I really like it. Hi Anders,
Like a mirror, such a perfect view. You really captured it beautiful and all Dutch skaters are waiting for such an icefloor. Your composition is the best it could be, every skater knows what this means...it's wonderful and very good and clever composed...well done.

Jesus! They're actually walking on the water!
Hej Anders, I like this composition with total focus on a narrow strip in the upper part, and then just the incredible surface getting progressively darker.

Hej Anders,
A marvellous and minimalistic picture. Is this really ice or, as all others say, are you walking on water? There are no winter references at all, it could be autumn, quite unbelievable.

Hi Anders!
You have made a great "serie" about skating, and all of your photos are great, but I think that this is a most impressive of them all! Excellent composition and light managment, beautiful colours, beautiful reflections that create a "surreal" world. Congratulations!

Hej Anders,
Pleasant minimalism, this is a great image!
The reflected sky comes out better that the real one, thanks to some polarizing effect, and the last rays from the setting sun has an interesting impact on the distant landscape!

I think this is my favourite shot from your series about ice skating. absolutely superb composition, I like a lot that you've waited for the two skaters to be just in the right place - within the reflection, I find that leaving the huge foreground of perfectly smooth ice free of any accents nicely emphasises the dominance of nature and how cautious the skaters should be. very well seen and presented.
best,
Kristine
