Photographer's Note
Another shot from my November visit to Mitta Mitta. Once again, taken in one of the paddocks (fields) of my friends' farm. A lone magpie was perched in the upper reaches of a dead gum tree growing right next to a younger one. The sun was fairly low in the sky - even though it was only about 6pm (exif details don't show summer time!) it fell below the mountain range behind me only minutes after I took this shot. For a few moments the clouds parted, allowing me to take a few shots in the amazing light.
Heavy rains fell only days before this was taken, so the grass looks incredibly green in this light; now, after some awfully hot days it will be brown and dry, even though the waterholes on the farm are still pretty full. About 120 species of birds have been recognised on this farm.

Hi Andrew,
I like the clouds over the landscape with its warm impression and good capture of the trees. The good details and sharpness work well and the single bird at the left is nice to focus at.

What a pleasure with 120 species of birds on a small area, good for nature photographers.

G'Day Andrew,
I have enjoyed this rural Victoria series. This one is magnificent, the colour is so rich and vibrant, and it is pleasing to see no human built structures, as nature intended. The dark sky sets a mood of promise, hoping of future rain to replenish the dams and soil. Good rains are expected soon in SE QLD, hope more for Vic also!

What I like on this image is that I get the wide angle feeling and yes I love the wide angle, besides that you have a nice dramatic light on the trees and a good contrast against the clouds.

There's something quite special in your picture that gives a very interesting athmosphere to it. It is probably related to the quality of the light and to the very special weather conditions (the transition between blue sky to the cloudy stormy one is great). The color of the grass is fantastic too, indeed.

I like photos like this one: main subject sun lighted against a cloudy sky, but this one has also a partial clear sky, making it double attractive for me.

Brilliant title. Ihe bird is so small but the whole image seems to grow around it and it provides a superb point of interest. I like the way that the trees seem to be marching toward the horizon. A great sense of space and perspective. Thanks.

je reviens un peu en arrière sur cette photo parce que les lumières me fascinent, elle a un look un peu comme si elle avait été traitée avec du HDR en PP.
Le polarisant n'est pas étranger à ces contrastes et à ces couleurs parfaites.
J'aime vraiment beaucoup.

C'est une photo qui a beaucoup de force grâce à une belle lumière et un ciel superbe. La pluie qui a précédé la photo a bien nettoyé l'atmosphère et donné un beau vert à l'herbe du premier plan.

I like the shadows and highlights in this sharp photo. The DOF is excellent and the circular polarizer filter did a very decent job on those clouds and sky. All the trees are crisp and allow space in the center to enjoy the distant view.
