Spire of Dublin
Next stop at 120m - i found it hard to believe it is so high.
In the middle of Dublin on O'Connell Street you will find this "needle" made of steel.
***********************
The Spire of Dublin, or its official title the Monument
of Light, is a large, pin-like monument 120 metres
(393 ft) in height. It is located on the site of the
former Nelson Pillar on O'Connell Street in the Irish capital, Dublin.
Designed by Ian Ritchie Architects, it is an elongated
cone of diameter 3m (10 ft) at the base, narrowing to
15cm (6 in) at the top. The world's tallest
sculpture[verification needed], it was originally
intended that the Spire be completed by 2000 in honour
of the new millennium, but construction was delayed
because of difficulty in obtaining planning permission
and environmental regulations. It is constructed from
eight hollow tubes of stainless steel and features a
tuned mass damper to counteract sway.

In the WS-section you can see it standing on O'Connell Street.

This is a really nice looking shot Thorsten. I mean really nice. Color is excellent, as well as composition. Your subject is superb, especially with the reflection of the adjacent building providing a nice splash of color. I really had to look close to see exactly what I was looking at, I thought it was a reflection off the street at one point!!! Those interspersed mirrors in the building look like camouflage against the sky.
Great work

Hi Thorsten,
I can't believe I missed this when I visited Dublin in April. You used the spire effectively to have the reflections. Was there any reason you did not go for perfect symmetry? I am not sure if the clouds help here but that's nitpicking. Regards,
Hakan

Great photo here, the blues are extraordinary, and the reflection showing the red building provide some colour to the photo.
Great recognition to see this photo opportunity.

Hi Thorsten!
Surrealistic and futuristic! It's a very original picture, surprising and taken from a good point of view. The notes that accompany it are very interesting and useful, too. It would be interesting to know what kind of postprocessing you did.
Kind regards
Markus

Bonjour Thorsten,
Ce monument est effectivement très original et surtout pas facile à photographier. Tu t'en tires très bien en nous donnant l'impression que c'est la route vers l'infini. Merci pour le partage !

Hello Thorsten! Great capture on your part, the chips in the spire create interest texture. The colors of the reflected buildings are very warm and well seen. Very well done!

Hi Thor,
Wonderful work here with that point of view to eternity! Love this kind of work. I also saw your shot 'Welcome to Athens', which is wonderful due to the graphical impact it has. Good work!

Beautiful shot. Very futuristic. Hard to grasp that this is a real object as against a computer generated graphic. Very nice balance of colors.

Lovely shades of blue.
