My shot of the Eiffel Tower at night (doesn't everyone who goes to Paris take at least one shot of this at night?)

This shot clearly shows one of the two search beams from the top of the tower. These lamps are able to be seem from 80 km away and are lit at the same time as the rest of the tower.

The reason the tower shows white in this shot is due to the "sparkle lights" that were originally installed for the 2000 New Years event. There are approximately 20,000 light bulbs that are activated every hour (on the hour) for 10 minutes. These bulbs flash, giving the tower a sparkly effect, which comes out as solid-white in a longer photo.

Visible at the bottom of the photo is the River Sienne and slightly above that the south end of the Pont Alexeandre III.
