Photographer's Note
The Nubian civilisation built a series of pyramids on the banks of the Nile, just north of Khartoum. It's one of the most popular places to visit in Sudan.
The pyramids are not on the scale of those in Cairo - they are much smaller structures. Most of the caps have long disappeared - I think the Germans were to blame (but I may be wrong). Recently the site has been excavated by archeologists but the place still remains much as it was. The dunes roll up to the ruins and the place remains quite remote.
This pic was taken on my first desert overnight stay outside Khartoum. I had a little 2MP camera then, so there was no reason to my photography. Hopefully when I go back I'll do a better job of capturing the place.

I really like this shot, i was not aware of Pyramids in Sudan. The way the light is halving the frame is excellent. This is a very crisp shot for a 2MP camera. Well done

This archeological site was not very known by whole world, because tourism practically does not exist in Sudan.
French television ha recently broadcast a report on this splendid city.
I appreciate this composition which is tallied perfectly.

Site archéologique intéressant mais les couleur du clichet sont très surréaliste. Ciao/jr

Beautiful lighting and sharpness. Great composition. The undulating sand and sharp lines of the buildings are such great contrasts. Yet they match with each other so nicely like they are the same material. The sky is great, too. It has a cinematic look to it, also. The depth is great, too. Very nice. I would just suggest to cut off a bit from the bottom, perhaps, to make it more wide and have less shaded area. But that's just a minor touch. This is very nicely photographed. Great job.

A fine motive and a fine play of light and shadow to make a clear picture. Graphically the curved shadow over the dune in the foreground is special.

I'd crop some of the dark foreground away. A great & very interesting shot. The texture in the 2 layers of sand is superb.

Magical picture for a romantic place, Tom. You create in my while watching your photo a feeling of decadence, that everything goes. Very poetic place.

Thanks for sharing the pic, Tom. Do not worry about the 2MP - it's not the MP that make the picture - it's the photographer! Having said that, I must admit the pic is very well done - the composition, the POV and even the metering (seems there was a lot of contrast between the shade and the lit-up area; the sky looks suprisingly well, meaning: not totally burnt out). Wishes, Tom.
