Photographer's Note

Hmmmpff! Silke thinks she can bring us out into the open even though we have managed to live quietly up here on the stone walls of Christ Church Cathedral for 147 years without attracting too much attention. All we need is publicity on this week before our favourite day of the year (Hallowe’en).
Our job is to keep unwanted visitors at bay and we do a good job from our vantage point above the entry doors.
Our designer was a British fellow, which may explain why we look a bit like a British bulldog and a pug, eh? Of course it might also have to do with the fact that this building is an Anglican church – but the truth is something that is for us to know and you to find out, heh, heh, heh. Of course, there are also those who recognize our power in warding off lawyers. You see, we were on duty all during the landmark lawsuit that occurred as a result of early foundation problems (Wardle vs. Bethune), which was because our building was built on too soft a foundation so that the steeple ended up leaning four feet to the south after only a few decades. This case is often quoted in connection with Article 1688 of the Quebec Civil Code (although the fools fail to cite our participation in all of the kafuffle). Some of the credit also has to go to our upstairs neighbours, whom you can see if you look closely.
Ah – and Silke (that interfering little so-and-so) wants you to know:
Camera: Sony Mavica, on loan from McGill University
PP: crop by about 5%, resize.
Cheers and Happy Hallowe'en
