Photographer's Note
This is my first shot for TE...
The location is A Coruña, near the Hercules Tower, one of the oldest lighthouses in the world, seen on the back.
The signpost is symbolic of the many possible destinies of sea travellers that have departed from this place for centuries.
I like the fact that the tall signpost - taller than the person seen - evokes the greatness of the human desire to go beyond his own scale.
(Post-processing on this photo was made by my friend Luís Afonso, my mentor in photography, because, well, I couldn't do it myself...)

It's an amazing photo Peter, but you already know that. Your pov (point-of-view) is really great since it completely changed all the scales here. At f/4 I was expecting to see the background a bit out of focus, but these little Canons really don't work like regular SLRs. The three subjects look like they are on the same plan, but we know they are not. Mainly because of that grass in the foreground that act as a curtain here. We clearly see the guy is on the front and the lighthouse on the back. That's crucial here. Love the directions pole. It really looks 3D. I like the pp :), it really created a mystic mood around this even if it boosted the dullness of this gray day. Be very welcome to TE! Hope to see more from your frequently...

Hola Peter:
Es una foto muy sugerente, con una composición muy buena con los tres elemntos principales. El procesado de la foto, en mi opnión le ha quitado un poco de naturalidad, pero en conjunto la foto me gusta.
Un saludo: Javi

Dear peter,
This is your first picture for TE; I should say it is a very nice start. Well done. I really like the idea of taking this picture. In wider sense it can symbolize different ways in life and human wonderness of which one to take.

Very artistic, and poetic shot Peter. Perfectly balanced. I like the desaturated colors; they work well with the overcast lighting, as well as the mood of the photo. I was very surprised to read that the PP was done by Luis Afonso! He is one of my favorite members of Treakearth. Oh, by the way, welcome to TE. Hope to see more from you.

Ryan

Peter,
Very nice capture. I like your note about the sign post being taller than the person and how it symbolizes the human desire to go above and beyond what is thought to be our own limitations. I can help but think that the Light House in the background is there to show the way.
Very well done!

Where to? Of course, TE was the best destination for this great shot. That big pole with all those beautiful places on it (and Lisbon is very clearly mentioned) is there just to tell us that our world is waiting for us. So, let the voyage start heading, for example, to the first destination on bottom and make your way up!
About the help you got, nothing to say. Luis is a MASTER.

Excellent first post, Peter! Very good balance of the three elements, located at different distances from the camera but brought together by your composition. Also a lot of meaning here, and all three elements, again, contribute to it. The feeling of freedom, brought by this "giant" pole, is overwhelming. My compliments as well for Luis for this PP, the shot was worth it!
Cheers

Hi Peter.

Its wonderful! I have been dying to find a sign post like this one! the symbolics it holds touches the chord in me. And your shot is absolutely great - i love the balance and the proportion between the 3 subjects. So well done, Peter!

Peter,
This is a fascinating photograph. I am a cartographic technician (cartographer) by trade so I would appreciate this more than most. It also has an element of humor in it. Good job!

Hi Peter, for a first shot uploaded on TE it was a killer one !
REally great one, i love how big the signpost is big and yes invitates human to go further own scale.
Interesting POV for this "inversion of size", ie such a small lighthouse ! ;)
Excellent

Hi Peter,
You have three erections standing almost completely equal to each other. The sign post of course dominating and it has to be. Huge thing it is, sending a message that this world is much bigger than any structure or human.
Thanks to Luis' PP it's amazing. Now it's a favorite..
