Photographer's Note

This was taken at Kinmen Island. Kinmen Island is 2kms from mainland China and the scene of a battle between the two Chinas in 1949, and the scene of an artillary war in 1955.

This tunnel is part of the Mashan Observatory, an observation post overlooking the strait between China and Taiwan. After a long winding tunnel you reach a room with binoculars enabling you to gaze across to China.

I took one photo in the middle of the tunnel, and another looking towrds the exit of the tunnel. I like both photos and couldn't decide which one should be posted so I did a montage. I also had trouble deciding upon decide on a vertical or horizontal format. I preffered a close up of the lights and pathway in the end. I've uploaded the other version as a workshop.

I kept the colours pretty much the same as they were captured, but had to alter the size of each image to make them as a montage (i didn't have a tripod, just a book).
