Photographer's Note
Kibitzing about with my camera one day, after doing a very dignified shoot of various aspects of McGill University for use on their website, I tried an unusual angle. I hope you like the result.
At the 1899 opening of the Royal Victoria College, McGill’s original academy for women, this statue of the Queen, executed by Princess Louise, was presented to the institution. The building went through several changes and eventually became the Strathcona Music Building. But Her Majesty the Queen still sits enthroned on the front steps, in regal vigil over the mores of the students of today.
Thanks for visiting and keep smiling!

Hello Silke,
Interesting point of view, giving a dynamic angle on the statue!
The image is well composed, good colours and fine details...
I like the colour palette here, they all work very well together!

This is a very interesting photo Silke, and I think the combination of low viewpoint of the statue and the diagonal lines of the buildings works well.
I think if you had moved to the right ever so slightly so that the statue's eye was visible between the arm and mace, it would have been even better.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Silke,
The best part of this picture is the low POV u decided on. Gives a very dynamic angle. Added bonus is the architecture of the college buidings behind.

Hi Silke
This is captured from a good pov. Very impressive looking up, as you have captured the light and shadows well, which give the picture very good impact. The definition is good and the pale blue sky compliments the scene well. Good work.

Hello Silke!
How powerful the Empress looks from the low, humble angle! You calculated with great acuity the effect of converging triangular patterns, creating a mightiness, a sense of strong-will that the queen would have been grateful to see. She looks as if she was wrestling against the roof of the house above...
The sun high in the sky provides perfect lighting for that portraiture. All mighty...
Thanks, regards, F'
