Photographer's Note
A detail from an assistant boat which was at the harbor of Chalkis. These ropes making me feeling that "our hopes are tied"!
The lighting conditions was strong so I made a duotone picture of this photo with somewhat bigger contrast for the details.
Hope to like this little exprerimental shot...
** UPDATE 11/04/2006 **

Crappy photo at the first glance, after a while you'll be able to discover some charm in it. Seemingly cluttered with shapes and patches which are hard to recognize, it actually creates some composition. Sharp passes from complete dark to completely bright creates the moment of surprise.
What a splendid contrast. Magnificently captured rope - unused for the moment, allows us to reflect upon meanings of our twisted, tangled lives. Rusty pieces of hardware evoke the memories from the past.
Sepia tone adds splendid flavor to this artsy photograph.
Great work. A lesson for all of us.
Thanks for sharing

Nice detail. It's a picture I never thought of taking it. The definition and contrasts are good too so your experiment is a sucess!

Good detail of the ropes and the surrounding elements, Mpampis. The details are rather well arranged (perhaps pointing the camera a bit more to the left would be good), and the duotone treatment works well to compensate for the difficult lighting. Greetings from Tokyo.

Hi Mpampis, a vert pleasing industrial shot. Duo-toning was the way to go considering the graphic character of the scene and the light. The DoF is fine too. Very very nice!
Have a fine weekend,

Good details m. of the ropes and anchoring point. And yes, harsh strong sunlight is never good so good idea to use the suotone here.

Hi Mpampis
Nice detailed shot of these ropes. The sepia treatment is great and the contrast in the shot works well. The almost abstract feeling is great as it adds impact. Nice work.

Hi Mpampis
The b&w sepia tone works well here. Excellent sharpness lighting & tonal range. I like the symmetry of the 2 ropes. Good work!

Hi Mpampis, nice title for the picture. i like what you've done in duotone as it's sometimes so hard to photograph in these light conditions. There's a nice blur on the background and all the items included really render a boat feeling.

Hi Mpampis,
this one stands out for me among other photos in your interesting gallery!
What makes this pic for me is the amount of sunlight that is not intrusive even at high contrast of the duotone that makes this composition an art work!
Well done my Greek friend,

Hola Mpampis, interesting detail of the cords tieed in the anchorages of the boat, I think that the B/W is very appropriate for this type of composition. Congratulations friend.

Mpampis, there is a certain harsh-energy coming from the light that highlights the texture of the ropes, which added to the almost abstract composition that makes this image very memorable. Well done!
