Photographer's Note

After we met so many camera-shy residents in highfields, it was really nice to encounter these two ladies as they were very comfortable having their pictures taken.

In my culture, it is polite to refer to elder females as "masi", which translates as "aunt" or mum's sister. In the same way, I would call any elder male "kaka" which means uncle or dad's brother. I chatted with them, calling them "masi" and they seemed to like this. I really value the Indian tradition of referring to our elders this way and hope this is something which stay with future generations...
