Photographer's Note

Another adventure in b/w conversion!

This is Elk Valley, so named because it is home to many elk who frequent this area, especially winter. About 10 miles south is an actual elk refuge (photos to come sometime!), where elk are fed and are protected.

This is cattle ranching country, though no cows are present here just now. Just over this first hill is a cattle pond, where my kids and I catch salamanders each year. This year, my youngest daughter, Lottie, caught the only one (besides me).

In the canyon are a series of beaver ponds, eight in all, and they are busy all year long here.

Thanks for looking!
