Photographer's Note

It is Durga Puja season again. The artists are preparing the idols of goddess Durga. I visited one of the traditional workplaces/studio of some artists near where I live.

Here, we can see one of them, preparing the heads of the idols. Soft clay/mud is rolled up in a dough and cast in a mould. Then it is sun-dried and placed appropriately on the corresponding idol. The workers are all quick at their hand, and see the slight blur of the hand motion here...
See some unfinished work in the background, the owl of goddess Laxmi and the rat of Ganesh are visible.

This is the first of a sequel I shot of this particular artisan.
