Photographer's Note
While traveling back from Foley Lake I noticed just before a clearing the light in these trees. It was evening around 7 pm and this light shot throught these trees but eventually ended as you can see on the left. Most of the area behind Chillwiack has been logged off. This is second growth you are looking at. Soon it will be harvested too. But very strict guidlines are followed. You can also see new growth on the bottom of the scene.
For the most part photography is the study of light and how to capture it. This is why I posted this picture. Had I not been looking as I drove down the road I would have missed this. Side lighting is so very dramatic and it gives these trees depth in viewing. Or am I just crazy in the head?

Belle composition de lumière, d'ombre et de lignes verticales. Les couleurs ne sont pas en reste. Félicitations.

Hello Paul.
I like the play of the light that you succeeded in capturing here, that alight those lower trees on the canopy.
Well done.
You are not crazy, and if you are, then you are not alone.

No, you're not crazy! This is a really good shot. I know how hard it is to take photos of the forest (I have many dismal attempts) but because of the light coming from the side, this picture gives a great sense of the depth of trees receding back. Well done.

Hey Paul. I've often seen a similar scene in the woods but have never been nearly this successful at capturing it. The way the soft light is hitting the trees and creating the contrast is beautiful. No your definitely not crazy Paul, this is a great shot!

Nicely done :) I've had a few tries at taking pictures of similar scenes, and honestly I pretty much butchered all of them. It can be a tricky thing exposing a shot like this.. a bit too much one way or another and it can be underexposed, or burnt out.
Some portions of the picture are a little dark, but it's pretty minor. I really like the scene, and it's a little unfair to try and critique a photo like this because it's just so hard to capture that wonderful feeling in a piece of film. A nice BC moment to be sure :)

Hi Paul,
Beautiful lighting effect and perfect exposure. I always enjoyed scenery like this. The lines created by the trees are very dynamic and dramatic. Great shot!! Regards and a nice weekend.

Hi Paul, What a beautiful scene. The sun light is magically brought into the dense forest. The color of the forest changes with the amount of the sunlight brought in. A beautiful shot with great details, nice contrast and good shrpness. well done.

This is a good graphical impression Paul. You could feel the woodiness but with a promise of summer, or a bright morning at least.
Hope your library is still ok. From what I gathered going through your gallery, you have a great collection of nature scene Paul.

Nice shot Paul;
Sorry I haven't been around in a while- as you know, I've had family in town etc....
I like the contrast of dark and light, complimented by the patterns of the trees.
Very similar to my home town by the sounds of it, lots of logging and reforestation in progress.
Cheers!

Hi Garden
Nice photo concept. The trees and plants creates the "barrier" against the lights and shadows created balanced up the "yin and yang".
Well done.

You and Corny are lucky human beings to have encounter so much beauty with this Chilliwak country. Well, Trekearth is really doing a great job, because now this morning, after getting out of my bed, I discovered Paradise on earth. It is a lovely picture of a forest. Sometimes, forests can be scary, but your forest is full of joy and hope.

I like this quite a bit. Not only is there a sense of immersion, but the shapes created by the light and shadowed regions make for a very interesting image. Beautiful work and great eye to see this.

Hi Paul,
This shot is a shows how you can play with the light.
You captured the warm light of the sunset. The contrast between the highlight and the shadows is really nice.
The impression of depth is strong thanks to the trunks.
The geometric distortion of your lens created curved trunks and is added to the perspective distortion. This let us feel that the trees are really tall.
Impressive shot.
Congratulations !
Amicalement,
Michaël
