Photographer's Note

This image was taken at the top of the Coire an t'Sneachda which is a crag on the Cairngorm plateau.

I'd just climbed the crag by a route known as Crotched Gully which is a Grade I/II winter climb. I'd got a very experienced friend with me on the day who knows the route very very well and he said that because the crux of the route was so thin (no ice or snow) we were verging on a grade III Scottish Winter route.

It was such good fun, I've got to go back next winter and lead my wife up it. The weather and snow conditions were perfect, my buddy lives and works as a guide in the area and he thinks we had the best day of the winter.

On the top of the crag I was packing the rope etc away and I saw these folks, they'd walked up onto the top of the cliffs and were enjoying a well earned cuppa while taking in the stunning view. The picture was just asking to be taken.

I hope you like it.
