Photographer's Note

Continuing my hike in Cathedral Wash at the northeast end of the Grand Canyon National Park, I'd returned to the main section of the Wash before taking another tributary that looked like it might get me to "my" spire.

Strike 2 - another dead end at a waterfall. What impressed me most at this one was the weathering of the sandstone walls near the waterfall. My immediate feeling was that I had reached some ancient temple whose carvings had been worn smooth by time.

Highlights in the sky reduced and auto contrast applied to the rocks before reducing the shadows.
