Photographer's Note

Erfurt was the last stop on our Rundfahrt. It was a last minute inclusion. From Leipzig home was a bit far (we don't like driving) and corona was striking hard in Antwerp, so we decided to stay the extra day.

---

ERFURT, apart from being the capital of Thuringen, isn't all that special, but it does have the Krämerbrücke, an arched bridge dating from the Middle Ages.

This is one of the few remaining bridges in the world that have inhabited buildings. It has been continuously inhabited for over 500 years, longer than any other bridge in Europe. The stone, pedestrian bridge, which dates from 1325, is one of the oldest secular structures in Erfurt.

THIS PICTURE shows part of the (houses on the) bridge from outside the bridge. Being Saturday, it was pretty crowded, lotsa people queuing up for ice cream.

Next up I'll show some more pictures of places we visited en route. First I wanted to show one picture per stop.
