Photographer's Note

My previous upload presented one of the most typical views from Poland. So here for a change something off the beaten track: This picture shows the main altar in the Holy Family Church in my home town Tarnow. The church itself was already several times presented on TrekEarth. I have a great sentiment for this interior as I have spent there many hours on prayer. Diocese of Tarnow is one of the most religious in Poland and to my knowledge in the whole world. For example, it produces the highest number of Catholic priests in the world.

While taking this photo I was in the middle of the Presbytery. My first idea was to focus on the main altar to demonstrate its rich decoration but then I decided to include some context as well as I found it not less interesting. In the very centre of the altar you can see the Holy Family with Jesus being a teenager. Left and right there are two Patron saints of Poland, both Bishops. In the left: St. Adalbert (sw. Wojciech) and in the right St. Stanislaus of Szczepanow (sw. Stanislaw). At the very top there is a sculpture presenting Holy Trinity at the moment of crucifixion. At the very bottom the Last Supper.
