Photographer's Note

These are the Bennelong Apartments, better known by Sydneysiders as The Toaster for its resemblance to the kitchen appliance. They are situated - controversially - on the Eastern side of Circular Quay, right next to the Sydney Opera House. Finished in 1998 and designed by Andrew Anderson, how this eyesore got development approval is beyond me. The Toaster has been described as "the building that most Sydneysiders would happily blow up". At an average cost of $8.4 million dollars per apartment (of 190 square metres)these apartments have 180 degree views of the Harbour Bridge and block all views of the Opera House from the southern end of Circular Quay.
