I found these picture back to my archive, I think that these picture excellent suitable to showing of the Greatest City of Flanders, Antwerp 509.000 habitants.

These picture is taken summer 2008 more than four year ago.

History of a part of the market;
The Guild Houses on the Market Antwerp.
The guild houses make the image of the historic market perfection.
However, they are not all original because of a fire that raged through the city. The numbers 24, 38 and 40 on the "Grote Markt" "Grand Place" in Antwerp however authentic houses from the 16th and 17th centuries.
The reconstructions of the other houses have been taken during the 19th and 20th centuries, based on paintings by the old market.
It has been extremely successful and gives the impression of a completely authentic historic market square. The largest building on the Grote Markt in Antwerp is the Pledge of Spain dating from 1580.
Also at this establishment was later posted a picture (by Jef same Lambeaux).
The images on the guild houses were related to the Guild itself and were an expression of status, power and wealth of a certain guild.

I hope you like it
