Lot of people like this old man, they survive on the lost/dropped gold in Indian Rivers. For some people in India, it is a tradition to drop gold/coins in the sacred rivers for prosperity. And they search for the gold sand which comes to rivers from the Goldsmith homes. What ever it may be.

an interesting subject Chandra and what an awful life for this very poor man - makes me realize how easy my life is in comparison.I have done a workshop on your image just to brighten and sharpen the image a little. I hope you don't mind and like the result.
