Photographer's Note

Inside Australia, created by English sculptor Antony Gormley. Scattered across the salt plain of the remote Lake Ballard, each of these depicts one of the local residents of Menzies.

It is a pretty nice walk on the lake, especially during late afternoon and early morning (as long as you don't mind walking on the sticky salt-mud mixture). Climbing the little round hill in the middle also gives you a spectacular view of the snow white plain that stretches all the way to the horizon (and the giant "graffitis" made on the plain that cannot be seen when you are on ground level).

The artwork can be reached after a 40-minutes drive on an unsealed road from Menzies. Or, as I had discovered by myself later, some sculptures were also displayed in the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. (But then it's just not the same, of course.)

A surreal and memorable attraction.
