Photographer's Note
Sabanci mosque:
though not being historical, is the most visited mosque in Adana, as it being one of the largest mosques in the Middle East. The mosque was opened in 1998 and can accommodate 28500 prayers. It is built in loyalty to Ottoman Architecture. The mosque possesses six minarets, four of them having height of 99 meters. Dome has a diameter of 32 meters and it is 54 meters high from praying area. It is located on the west bank of Seyhan River at the corner of Seyhan Bridge and can be seen from a wide area.

Sabancı Merkez Camii; Adana şehrinin merkezinde, Seyhan nehri kıyısında yer alan, Türkiye’nin en büyük camisidir. 1998 yılında hizmete açılmıştır. 32 metre çaplı ana kubbesi ile Türkiye’nin en büyük kubbeye sahip camisidir. Caminin proje mimarı Necip Dinç’tir.
27,000 kişilik cami, son cemaat mahaliyle birlikte 6600metrekareye yayılmıştır; 9 fil ayağı üzerine oturur. Klasik Osmanlı mimarisi tarzında yapılmıştır. Genel görünüm olarak Sultanahmet Camii’ne, plan ve iç mekan olarak Selimiye Camii’ne benzer. Bu nedenle Sabancı Merkez Camii için “Selimiye’nin eşi, Sultanahmet’in kardeşi, Kocatepe’nin çağdaşı.” denmektedir.
4 yarım-kubbe, 5 kubbe, 6 minaresi vardır; bunlar 4 kitap, 4 halife ve 4 mezhebe, İslam’ın 5 şartına, imanın 6 şartına karşılık gelmektedir. 32 metre çaplı ana kubbe 32 farza, avludaki 28 kubbe Kuran’da adı geçen 28 peygambere, ana kubbedeki 40 pencere Hz. Muhammed’(sav)in peygamber olduğu yaşa ve 40 rekat namaza, 99 metrelik 4 minare Allah’ın 99 güzel ismine karşılık gelir.
Caminin temeli 13 Aralık 1988’de atılmıştır. 65bin metrekarelik arsası Adana Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı’na devredilmiş; halkın bağışları ile caminin %50’si tamamlanmıştır. Geri kalan %50, Hacı Sabancı ve onun ölümünden sonra Sabancı ailesi tarafından karşılanmış; bu nedenle başlangıçta Merkez Camii olması düşünülen adı Sabancı Merkez Camii halini almıştır.

Merhaba Cevdet Bey, nedense gerek Ankara'daki Kocatepe, gerek Adana'daki Sabancı camileri pek estetik gelmiyor bana. Ama bu fotoğrafta sunumunu öyle zarif yapmışsınız ki, Seyhan Nehri'nin ışıltıları, bankta oturanların siluetleri ve farklı tondaki gökyüzüyle manzara bayağı hoş geldi gözüme.
Ben bu şehirde daha çok Adana'yı Adana yapan eski mekan fotoğraflarını seviyorum. Saat Kulesi, Taş Köprü, Kazancılar, Ulu Cami, Mestan Hamamı, vs gibi. Ayrıca kentin modern kesimlerinden Atatürk Caddesi, Gazipaşa, Cemalpaşa, İstasyon Meydanı gibi yerlerden de fotoğraflar varsa paylaşırsanız sevinirim.

It`s not a perfect exposure,but I like a lot the pink and purple tones at the sky and the fact that there are no distortions visible.
The squareformat was a good choice and the people at the bench in the bottomn corner make the composition perfect.

sahi ? adanadayken beni ve ömeri mi düşündün.ben de çeşme ve alaçatıdayken ''ne kadar güzel bir memlekette yaşadıgını cevdete mutlaka yazmalıyım '' diye aklımdan geçiriyorum hep.
aslında adana havaalanında teste tabii tutacaksın gelenleri:D......kebap sevenleri şehre alıp-ciger üstü künefe ile besleyeceksin-(aman be cevdet; beni bile baydı offf):P; sevmeyenlere de havaalanında kahve ve kruvasan ikram edip geldikleri uçakla gerisin geriye yollayacaksın memleketlerine hatta en uzaga mesela londraya!!!

The mosque is magnificent, in spite of being new, but what really makes the difference here is that couple sitting on the bench, on the right side, especially with the golden reflection on the water.A very good composition. At first, I thought this had been taken in Istambul.

Alti minareyi de neredeyse ust uste binmeden goruntuleyecek bir aci yakalamissin. Tebrikler. Ayrica bankta oturup Seyhan'i seyreden iki kisi kompozisyonu zenginlestirmis. Tek rahatsiz eden en sagdaki minare arkasinda yukselen bina, bu konuda yapabilecegin yokmus zaten. Binalar, antenler, telefon direkleri vb. bence etrafimizdaki goruntu kirlilikleri. Eline saglik.

This image make me wish to visit Turkey sooner than later. But there is just so much to do. Is winter a good time to visit? Not this year but I love to visit one day.
This is really just beautiful, the fantastic mosque itself is worth seeing, with this sunset light, it just magical. the people on the bench add the daily life value to this image and complete the composition just perfectly. Even in this light, we can still see wonderful details on the mosque. My complements and admiration.

Lovely lighting with the backlit sun behind the mosque - and the way you have managed to get excellent details on the front of th ebuilding. The water is very nice in front and I like the couple sitting on the bench, way down in the bottom right corner, adding a sense of scale (and a sense of the photograph already having observers).
