Photographer's Note
...for a common man
A portrait of a working giant...
Joaquin is the highest form of a human being.
He's a man of work.
He's real. He'll bring money home at the end of the day.

Hi George, I have to say that I have watched your photo from right after you uploaded it, but I have needed quite a few visits to became friend with it/him/us. Friend of the framing of it, with the machine in such a first term, but somehow I have understood IT, or maybe I should say I´ve created my own lecture about it... I mean, this photo is about a working man, right, about him, Joaquín, but what happen to HIM, happen to me, mainly all to all of us: That finally we work for something bigger, a company that makes rich a few ones, but keeps a certain balance in the only universe possible right now, of course "Ford" among others... So finally this phot is about US. "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears on the rain" I remembered this lines of Ridley Scott´s "Blade Runner" in one of my recent photos, lost in time like Joaquin, like me, but probably not for "Ford"... Sorry for the speech. Take care.
Miguel
PS: You are a box full of suprises.

Witaj!

Przewrotne i cyniczne. Ale ja lubię takie prowokacje. I to mi się podoba.
Pozdrawiam.

• Hi J,
I also prefer your personal preference version.
But I'd prefer the worker some less blurred. I know that Mr Ford is more important (to who?), but you almost errased the common man.
Regards,
F

Being quite busy lately, I am the happy one, seeing not only today the rusty object of the working man, but the working man itself (your second post). So, I won't complain on the fact that we don't see that much Joaquin. But, even if you had not posted the following photo of Joaquin in all his glory, I won't deny my own fascination for that rusty Ford. I have told you a long time ago about the fact that the things are not so easy to photography that it may seem to.
I have to say though that I don't have so great a fascination for vehicles. Except... except when they are all rust!! Oh well... I guess it is my fascination for old things in general!! And here, I will go against your own preference for the "less bullshiit version" and choose without an ounce of doubt the color version... all the way up! That mix of red and rust is such a bless for my eyes! I simply love it!
Ok, I give you the right to accuse me of being heartless, but sometimes I prefer to photography things than human. Give me an old rusty tractor anytime!
Claire

• Poor Joaquin, far away, a bit lost, half hidden and blurred by an old emblematic icon of the American motor industry...
Anyway, he is seen in his working environment, the colours work well too, this is no B.S. (WS also OK but personally I prefer this version) and fits well in your "working people" theme.
Congratulations,
Best regards from rainy Brussels,
Cath.

Pozdrowienia T."
A teraz jeszcze dodam, że mi brakuje poprzednich, mówiących o fotofrafowaniu "przedmiotów" czyli "things". To one przygotowały grunt pod niemal zmysłowy odbiór wdzięków pana forda ;)))
Pozdrawiam niezmiennie T.

Nominated as the photo of the year (check the forum thread "Favorites of 2007"), and I can see why. I'm sick of writing critiques (forgive me) but I just wanted to let you know that I really like this photo. Stay cool George.

Hi George,
Tribute to rust. Really good close-up. There is very strong 3D appearance on that rough surface. And the presence of this guy in his workshop adds value. (Yes, I know you think the other way around.)
I added this to my theme of old tractors (again!).
