(Series on my trip to PERU - City of LIMA - The Capital City of the Country - South America - From September 6th to 22nd, 2007 - #004 !)

MIRAFLORES - That was my second day in Peru! I had arrived the day before (flying directly from São Paulo to Lima, by TACA Airlines - a surprisingly good air company) and had already visited Lima's downtown, the old part of the city! It had lots of interesting historical buildings, however the whole city's kind of scary, with crazy traffic, for example. I had no major problems though and every single corner had a couple of policemen (many times a policewoman). This day, I visited the newest part of that giant metropolis and had good surprises! Unfortunately, the sky around there is almost always cloudy and grey! Miraflores is one of the nicest neighborhoods, by the Pacific Ocean, with some beautiful views from the cliffs! An upscale district of Lima, it's known for its restaurants and shops. It's a nice place to stay.

Right after the bridge, one can see one of the parks of this area, "El PARQUE DEL AMOR" (The Park of Love) and some paragliders! Paragliding is one of the activities one can do over there!

The bridge is protected because there were many suicides there!

I took this picture to show the UNUSUAL GEOGRAPHY of LIMA, the second largest city in the World built on desertland! It spreads largely along the Pacific Ocean coast, with many cliffs of volcanic origin!
