Photographer's Note

This man's name is Klever Sambrano- He is el dueno "the owner" of this brick making operation of a small dirt poor town. But lucky for Klever, there is a lot of dirt to be found. Because the ground is the primary ingredient in making bricks. I will post more photos and discuss more about the process of digging the earth, polluting the air with smoke, having children as young as 8, even females put to work to assist families for income and the lives of people who depend on his business (his leadership and hard work himself) to pay for food to be put on the table.
Before you make judgment; I would like to tell you ab it about Klever- I've been told that he has 5 other competitors in less than a 15 miles square radius who also make their living in this hard work. One of the competitors is his brother. Life is hard, life is simple but most of all, life has its rules and necessities; one of these necessities is to make a living. Senor Klever, is an employer, family man and business man. He knows like everyone on earth does; to put food on the table, you need to work- He Does.

I interviewed him about child labor and the law in Ecuador: so in future posts, I will relate to you want he said- but for now I would like to tell you that he feels that children shouldn't have to work, but realizes that life doesn't always follow the rules; especially in a place where hard work- literally, feeds the family.
