Photographer's Note

The Port of Manaus has a floating dock. It goes up and down with the swell of the Amazon River. Every springtime the water from the Andes mountains rushes down, and the Amazon river catches most of the run-off. As water inundates the lower part of the cities on the Amazon and also the lower part of the rain forest it takes with it all the decaying things from the forest out to all the tributary rivers and eventually to Amazon river. This is the time to visit the place as the feared mosquitos will not bother you.
