Photographer's Note

Coffee plantation… but on stained glass.

I took this one at the “Municipal Market” in Sao Paulo.

It is a beautiful old building which was restored about three years ago, and the food, fruits and groceries stands share the space with some bars and restaurants.

The different stained glass panels represent images of rural activities in the region, by the beginning of the 20th century.

I find nice visiting the place when I am in downtown and enjoy a snack in one of the bars, where huge codfish pies are one of the main attractions, to the point where on weekends the place gets really crowded.

One of the things that called my attention when I first visited the place some years ago, is the huge variety of fruits that you can find, fact that is explained by Brazil’s extension and diversity of climates, and by the country being the word’s second fruit producer.

In the workshop I am posting a view of one of the market’s aisles, with some of the stained glass on the background (that will give an idea of dimesion).

Hope you enjoy it.
