Photographer's Note
Northern-Paraná is a climatic borderline between tropical and subtropical regions, the altitude give an extra touch to our climate.
Our climate permits we have tropical and not tropical plants living side by side, when the winter is harsh the tropical plants can be killed and when the winter is so mild, the temperate plants suffer a lot.
This was one of the worst winters we had in my region, we had not so extreme negative temperatures, but a big series of frosts.
Here we have a view of two papaya trees whose leaves were burned by the ice and fell down, few meters ahead you have a mango tree whose top part was burned by the ice. This is a lover area, near a stream and located between two mountain ranges, the mountains blocked part of the wind while the lower part of the valley received a big amount of dew that was frozen at night, killing tropical plants. Our native plants weren't damaged, as you can see the tree ahead, a native bougainvillea with dead flowers in the top, killed by the time, not by the weather.
These trees are around the ruins of a rural school that was abandoned.
................

Hello Jorge,
It's sad to see the destruction of the tree, but the naked branches have a somewhat artistic appearance, like an original sculpture.

Hi Jorge,
Frost is affecting the life of the persons and of nature. The point of view is showing the details of the trees damaged by the frost. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hi Jorge.
The poor paw paws! (We usually call them paw paws in Australia (the papaya are longer and redder) and they grow well in suburban Brisbane). It's been decades since I have seen any frost in northern or inner northern Brisbane, although the western and far south western suburbs inland still get occasional frosts. More of a problem here is the city gobbling up farmlands and suburban sprawl. The naked trees look strange. I used to cut off a branch, make a pipe and blow bubbles through the hollow tube of the leaf stalk, when I was around 10-12 years old. Tfs!

Hello Jorge,
After reading your last note to me, I understand that there is no way of rescuing these fruits! How sad, when you think of what could have been!
The photograph is dramatic!
It reveals a naked tree, with the fruits green and sad.
You coped well with a strong sunlight.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Ciao Jorge,it seems a little like reliving what happens in southern Italy, where species are grown that do not survive the winter in the north, but sudden frosts can also happen in the south and make what happened here happen. The leafless papaya tree is a perfect example for us to understand! Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hi Jorge
It looks like the fruit might still be OK although you wouldn't expect them to be. A good photo of the hazards of what nature does.
cheers

Hi Jorge,
another very photogenic scene. This looks so extraordinary again with the fruit on a naked tree.
It is in particular interesting because I don't know how it should look like with the leaves on :)
Brilliant composition with the blue sky at the back!
I buy sometimes frozen fruit in grocery store anyway, so maybe these could be still used... :)

Hello Jorge,
That is the risk of planting trees outside of their ideal zone. Sorry to read that the papaya trees were harmed.

MT
