The yellow ipÍ, also known in Brazil as aipÍ, ipÍ-branco, ipÍ-mamono, ipÍ-manioc, ipÍ-ouro, ipÍ-pardo, ipÍ-vacariano, ipÍ-tobacco, ipÍ-do-cerrado, ipÍ-dourado, ipÍ-da-serra, ipezeiro, pau-d'arco-amarelo, taipoca or just ipÍ (scientific name: Handroanthus albus) is a tree of the genus Handroanthus. It can reach 30 meters in height and 60 centimeters in diameter, and is deciduous. Yellow flowering begins at the end of August, the species is hermaphrodite, fruiting occurs between September and February, depending on the region, cultivated trees begin to reproduce after three years. The specific name "albus" derives from the whitish appearance of the young leaves.
