Photographer's Note

This is Manaus City Municipal Market. It is right by the Amazon River. The market and the customs house are both just a block east of the floating cruise ship dock. The Municipal Market is made of steel. It is prefabricated in Paris. It was based on a Parisian structure, but the steel and wrought iron work was forged in England and brought to Manaus piece by piece. It is said to have been designed by Gustave Eiffel. It is a hive of activity specially in the early morning.
