Photographer's Note

As the birth place of the first Inca, Lake Titicaca always had a big religious importance to the people who live around it.

According to tradition the first Inca came out of the water to the island of the sun. Many traditions are still very much alive concerning the lake and its waters.

The religious importance has not disappeared when Christianity arrived.

Copacabana, located on the Bolivia part of the lake is probably the most important religious center on the shores of the lake. Above the town and it's impressive cathedral rises the Calvario - a steep hill with many stairs going all the way to the top - a spiritual place of offerings and promises.

This is a picture of one of the crosses along the climb to the top.

I will post more images from the top of the Calvario later.
