Photographer's Note
I decided to try the excursion from Mendoza city to San Rafael in the Valle Grande (more than 650 kilometers, if I remember correctly).
The Atuel River, near San Rafael (Mendoza), is an important river with strong waters that allows to obtain hidroelectric energy.
Its dams provide beautiful artificial lakes. One of those is Valle Grande, a place where mountain, lake and a little islands full of vegetation come together. A perfect place for excursions and adventure activities available all year, such as rafting, rapelling, climbing, trekking, horseback riding, etc. It's also a gateway to Atuel Canyon.
