Photographer's Note
I took the photo at about 10 a.m. from a motor boat. The Sun is to the right. Named because of its resemblance to the shape of the bishop's mitre. The peak rises almost sheer above the Sound to a height of 5,560 ft. Mitre Peak appears repeatedly on the covers of guidebooks, maps, and pamphlets promoting New Zealand.
