This photo was taken on a 4 day tramp I did on the Hollyford track near Milford Sound. There are a lot of popular hikes in this area, but this one is a lot less traversed, and not very well known.
It is a beautiful walk, mostly flat with a little hill to go over.
It is all through this beautiful, green and wild bush, with the amazing sounds of the native birds as a perfect soundtrack. The track follows the glacier blue Hollyford river, with views of incredible glaciers and mountains on the other side of the river.
The parks in New Zealand are a great service, and the wilderness conservation is impressive, although there is a great downfall in that a dangerous poison is spread around the parks to try to control the possum population which in turn kills a lot of other wildlife and contaminates the water.
