Photographer's Note
View of Castlepoint from the trail to Castle Rock summit, the trail is scary, and goes along the edge of a cliff as unstable looking as the one seen in the foreground, it is not comforting that earthquakes are possible in this region. There is a little lighthouse at the far end of the "reef". There are only 5 other photos from this region of NZ so far on this site, it is relatively little visited because the coastal communities are only accessible by narrow winding dead-end forest roads, there is no continuous road along the coast here.

Another stunning shot! In this one I like how you found the perfect spot to take this, connecting the rock in the foreground with the headland behind it. I like the big, sweeping curves of the shoreline too, which gives a lot for the eye to feast on. Beautiful!

Hey Tan,
Thanks for sharing Castlepoint to TE. I guess what makes Castlepoint really unique is being isolated from being urbanized. Great panoramic view, quite scary from the point where you took the picture.

Hi Tan,
Beautiful scenery and very sharp details. Well composed and the colour quality is outstanding. Good choice in using a polariser in this shot to cut down on glare. Well done.
Cheers,

Hi Tan, I have never been here before - what an awesome view overlooking the beach and reef and the little lighthouse. We nearly did a trip here a couple of years ago, but had to cancel. And fortunately we did, because the time we were supposed to go was one of the worst storms in the area.
The heavy clouds make the scene look more dramatic. Well captured, thank you,
Janice

Hi Tan. I've got a shot I'm working on right now with barrel distortion like this and I am having a heck of time getting rid of it. Personally I like the fish-eye effect but it's not for everybody. Cool shot Tan!

Hi Tan,
That lighthouse is really tiny - very hard to spot. But I suppose it is well placed to show size of this beach. I like the shapes very much, its unusual to see such rock formation. Good PoV with rock sticking out and linking rocks on sea level below. Gd pic

Tan one of my first impressions of the distant rock is it looks like a hammerhead shark. It almost looks like the shoreline edges have contorted themselves into beast like shapes which is very interesting to look at. Thanks for the unique perspective. What an amazing place!

Hi Tan, a fantastic photo from a remote place on Earth! POV is the clue here, as it is in a lot of your other photos (I have recenrly discovered your gallery and I must say I was impressed). Here, I like very much the fact that you almost "close" the circle but not completely, a great visual effect! Like also the small houses (and a lighthouse, the white tower on the cliff?), they really give a sense of scale to this view.
Cheers

another great picture from New Zealand from you. graet depth and as always good colors. I guess you had to push the PP a bit for those clouds to show up... it's well worth it.

Hi Tan,
A superb POV for this fine view. This photo is a good demonstration of how a cloudy sky can be every bit or even more effective than a blue one. The lighting is superb, there is good DOF, and the eye follows the varying twists and bends of the landforms. The quality of the photo is great without the hues being oversaturated. Very fine work, Tan.

Hi Tan. There you go climbing hills again so the rest of us can enjoy the view. My strongest memories of Castle Point are of the wind, the place just blows sometimes. Nice capture, those dark patches on the ocean are a nice touch and add life to the water. Thanks for sharing.

A very capthaddock POV here with a wonderful outlook over this stunning headland and off to the horizon. The foreground looks almost tangible and the sky is very attractive. The contrast looks just a little too harsh though on my screen.
