Photographer's Note

View from the north shore of Lake Taupo looking south towards the three majestic volcanic peaks of Mt Ruapehu, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro. Ngauruhoe is the typical cone-shaped peak and is New Zealand's most active volcano, having erupted 61 times since 1839. The mountain stands 2,291m above sea level.
The lake is the largest freshwater lake in New Zealand, being some 616 sq kms in area and 186m at its deepest (Wikipedia). There is an annual Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge around the perimeter and the area is also popular as a skydiving location, something my daughter took advantage of when she was there last year.
No enhancement - apart from the road, the colours are 100% nature's own.
