Magnolia Soulangiana

What a beauty!!

My husband and I walked through Albert Park in Auckland last Sunday, and we came across two amazing magnolia trees - Magnolia soulangiana, I think.

I have never seen a tree like this before, completely covered in blossoms. And there were two of them!

This Tulip Magnolia is sometimes called a Tulip Tree. There is another tree that also carries that name causing some confusion. Magnolia soulangiana is a great small tree. And for the month that is in bloom it is extraordinary. The blooms are 4" across or more. The tree can get to 20 feet or more, and these two at Albert Park were quite large.

There were many people taking photos of them and I had to as well!

Check the Workshop as I have a closer view of the flowers.
