Photographer's Note
Sydney harbour is without a doubt one of the most beautiful arrangements of architecture in the world, and I was lucky to capture this sunset there. I realised just how amazing the view was, and sat there with my tripod until the light was just right. This shot is a stitch of two images put together with The Panorama Factory
There's an interesting story involved in taking this shot which can be found here!
Incidentally the original Harbour Bridge design didn't have the two columns we see today - apparently the locals refused to cross the original because it didn't look sturdy enough!
P.S. You can now buy a print of this here!

This photo is magnificent and seems to me perfect. Excellent night-scene, as I dream to make a similar, but I did not arrive there yet. Bravo
Cette photo est magnifique et me semble parfaite. Excellente scène nocturne, comme je rêve d'en faire une semblable, mais je n'y suis pas encore arrivée. Bravo

Amazing. I don't know if it's the light or the clean lines but it almost looks computer-generated.

Fantastic pan.
Great stiching and exposure job.
I might have cropped a little from the bottom but the water gives a feeling of distance.
Love this pan.

this is...breathtaking! definitely one of the best night pictures on this site..the fact that we can see the harbour bridge and the opera house from this prespective makes this a very unique photo beside that the composition is magnificent small opera house and "massive" bridge ..I can keep talking about this picture for hours...oh..and the colours... 10 out of 2.

Holy molley, this is great work! The wide angle on the bridge and the color makes this shot jumps to your face. The color of the sky is amazing. Was it rainning before? Beautiful, beautiful shot.

As great as this picture is, I think I would need more room over the bridge to make it excellent. The framing there is just a bit too tight, especially with a lot of water on the bottom. The balance is a little off in this part of the image. The rest is great, everything nice and sharp. The sky is dramatic and the reflections work well. Good job.

Great picture. The night scene captured by Adrain is wonderful. Though this is one of the mostly photographed architectures of the world, this picture is breathtaking. Wonderful job Adrian!!

Great shot indeed. Have spent more than 3 months in Sydney a short time ago, but, unfortunately, I didn't have a good camera to make pictures in darkness. Next time I will bring a better camera!
Must agree with gringofil. Would like to see a bit more space/sky. Maybe a bit of lighten up the Opera House?
In any case: well done!

Your composition is very well chosen Adrian. The bridge works perfect as a startpoint for the rest of the cityscape and the panorama "stitching" made it a attractive scenery too. The feel of inbalance is probably due to the horizon that is almost centered verticaly in this frame. Nevertheless a pleasant shot!

A very nice photo. I hadn't heard that story about the reason for the false pylons - tho I did know they were fakes (i.e. not needed for the structure of the bridge). The best bridge story is the way it was opened - the official party were all ready to snip the ribbon when a member of the local fascist party rode up on a horse and slashed it with a sword (this was back in the early 30s).

I'm up critiqing because of jet lag from flying back from Sydney. This is an excellent shot of the city. The colors are excellent! I was trying to get one that would be this excellent but I'm not even close. Great Job Adrian!

This photo is extraordinary! The lights are fabulous, and you have managed to get a very interesting angle of the bridge. The beautiful reflections in the water give this photo a nice depth.
I should like to point out one thing ... some more sky above the bridge would make the composition perfectly balanced. Otherwise congrats for a superb photo!

I was reading the thread "touchy situations" and stumbled a cross this photo. I most say you found the perfect spot for this one. Well worthe being tailed by AU Security. The colours and the light is great and you have everything in it. Great.

The right colour of sky, right amount of cloud, right time of day, all buildings illuminated, no breeze and a perfect perspective. What more could one want.
I would have taken a wee bit more sky into the panorama, so that there is enough over the closer pylons of the bridge.
Great shot.

A great shot, I especially like how the bridge stands out against the backdrop of Sydney. The lighting is also superb.

I agree with you that Sydney Harbour is one of the most beautifull places considering the size of it. I have seen some great views of it.
Still, yours is one of the best I´ve seen so far.
Amazing picture. I wish you´d post a Large Post of it!
My first favourite!

On the contrary I don't find this bridge nearly as interesting as the scottish castles you have presented, however your image of this bridge is just as good and interesting. I like how the bridge overpowers the scenery, making it appear so much bigger than the city itself, all the rest (colours, background, reflections) complements it very nicely.

Adrian, this picture is absolute brillant. When i visited sydney, i bought some panorma posters and books of Peter Lik (www.pertelik.com). I saw similar pictures in his collection. This guy is making tons of money. You should think something similar. Man, if this was being sold, it will sell like hot cakes. This a an absolute beauty. The timming to get the lights is perfect. Wonderful.
I wish TE adds another new icon for points, that you can give to a picture once every 1 month, this picture would have got mine.

Hi Adrian. This is a fantastic panoramic. The gradient of colours of the sky and water are fantastic. And the composition is perfect, Sydney seems a fantastic city. The photo show two of the most representative constructions of this city and it's very "intense". Very good job.

Wow, the best of Sydney summed up in one shot. I like that you got the whole Sydney Harbour Bridge, the CBD, and then the Opera House. This composition would make a good photo night but you captured it with that spectacular sunset which makes it out of this world.

Adrian,
Excellent lights.Very good exposure.I specially like the reflections on the water. If the Governor of Australia ever got to see this he would be wondering.. "I never have seen this bridge like this" cause you have done a beautiful job in capturing this.

Very nice composition and excellent POV.
The light of the sunset and exposition have been very well managed. I like the water as well, but I would have use only for 1/3 of the picture, letting the other 2/3 for the skyline, the bridge and the sky.
The result is very nice anyway.
