Photographer's Note

Built at a similar time to the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the 1930’s, and by the same architect/engineer, the Story Bridge is surely Brisbane’s most impressive icon. While not as enormous as the Sydney cousin, this cantilever structure is still an imposing sight, towering over the city’s eastern reach, connecting the south and north sides of the river. It, along with the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Auckland Harbour Bridge are the only large bridges in the world with guided climbs to the top.

Taken before dawn, I liked the dark and imposing nature of this image with the solitary car facing me. Obviously taken from a moving car, I am pleased with the motion blur in sections and the focus in others. Not my usual type of shot. For more information on the bridge, or a larger view, see my previous night shots.

I will try to include a link of a remarkable 24hr time lapse of the structure for you to view.
