Photographer's Note
The East Coast Blues and Roots Festival.
Thousands of blues fans descend on the (now) tourist mecca of Byron Bay in northern NSW for five days of blues and roots music in beautiful surrounds.
This photo is of the camping area of Belongil Fields, not a carpark. The tents are pitched up against one another and the rows of portaloos are a sight to behold.
But there is little concern for the level of facilities. The wandering mull cookie salesman and eskies chockers with booze have a relaxing effect.
As for the blues, in the last two years we've seen Bo Diddley, Jack Johnson, Beth Orton, Michael Franti, Buddy Guy, the Black Keys and so many more.
Book early for accomodation - I booked mine in April this year and it was mostly booked out. (This is for the Bluesfest at Easter 2007).
If you ever have the chance, and you're a music fan, have a look.
Cheers
