In the hills and ridges around the Flinders Ranges you can see the result of geological forces that formed the hills. Extensive "folding" of the earth's surface took place in the region and you can clearly see the layers of rock at all sorts of angles, sometimes straight like in the hills in this photo and sometimes in waves as in the WS. You can see horizonal layers in the distant hills in the main photo.

An exceptional phenomenon, Ian, we usually do not see such a vertical layers pattern on a slope, most times the layers were mocved horizontaly or at least in diagonal lines.
The landscape wonderfully shown with fine clarity and colors.
Good afternoon,

Hi Ian,in both photos you can see very well the geological work that led to the formation of these hills following compression, excellent details for a really interesting post. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ian,
It's almost beyond comprehension to imagine the forces that created these folds, or the time needed. Fascinating views in both cases and perfectly taken photos.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
Nice weather day. Pleasant color of the sky, I wonder though whether increasing the saturation would still be possible while preserving the natural effect.
I just love such wild scenes with no human presence in sight,

Hi Ian,
The scenery is eye-catching. The point of view is showing the details of the hills. The light is giving nice tints to the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian,
A wonderful landscape with lots of beautiful shapes to be discovered in a pleasant, soft sunlight. I really like the textures created by the many low trees and bushes.

Hi Ian
very cool right, but honestly i bet most people would find geology boring, which is too bad. its quite interesting to me.
I wouldn't want to be left abandoned here, looks pretty deathly to be stuck here. thanks for these shots and the WS
cheers

Hi Ian
A beautiful view of this landscape. An ideal combination with the sky background. Clarity and exposure are well done. The view of the workshop was well shown.

Hello Ian,
Beautiful shapes created in the mountainous area.
The subsoil is dry and contains a lot of stones and rocks, so that the vegetation remains scarce.
Best regards, Paul

ian
a marvelous view of this hill marked with parallel grooves. interesting the wild vegetation trying to survive in this hard climate and soil.humans should to learn with nature, using what each corner has, not trying to transforme a region in another.
take care

Hello Ian,
I like geological explanations of these formations better that fables like Johnny Appleseed dragging his axe along the ground, but the fables are always more fun! A fine view of these interesting formations.

MT
