Photographer's Note
This photo was taken during the Southern Winter in the Blue Mountains. It was brass monkeys weather, but worth it, the clarity in the sky was incredible. The beautiful big gum tree you see was lightpainted to illuminate it a bit.

Ciao cara Lisa,
An incredible nocturnal shot of the starry night sky, with the lighter tones of the gum tree reflected what scant available light there was. It looks like a ghost gum from central Australia! Impeccable sharpness and superb shadow detail. Tfs!

Hi Lisa,
Great night view of the Milky Way and bright stars. Light on the tree has rather chilly tone, LED lamp I guess? Brass monkeys weather is a new expression to me. Good to see you here.

Hello Lisa,
It's a surprise to see you posting again after almost two years, but this photo deserved to be shown to many. It's an awesome composition of the fascinating tree beneath the Milky Way. I suppose you didn't paint the tree yourself just to get a better photo. ;-) The colours and clarity are stunning.
Best regards,
Gert

Ciao Lisa,
Voici 20 secondes d'exposition parfaitement utilisées. Un photo comme on aimerait tous en prendre un jour qui demande patience et technique, mais surtout l'endroit où la prendre.
Amicalement

Hello Lisa,
Good to see you again. And it's a fantastic photo as well. The starry sky cannot be more beautiful I think. Although I am not the best judge on this as I hardly ever get so see so many stars anyway thanks to the light pollution in Europe... Also the tree is very beautifully exposed and the sharpness is superb.

Hi Lisa
It was so clear that we could count millions of stars and terrifying distances beyond comprehension. Light that took millions of years to get here, screeches to a halt in the back of your eye! Absolutely love the perspective, tremendous detail with more subtle colour and wonderful illumination of the huge gum tree.
You’ve summed it up in your write up above. Milky Way photography is a prolonged workflow but it’s much about the experience as well. Gorgeous shot in the true sense and worthy of your effort braving the extreme weather condition. Congrats
Best regards

Hello Lisa, I guess that it is so dark here with no light pollution, that it enables you to get such a great view of all the stars.
I notice that there is still some light on the horizon, yet the foreground is black. The tree is well included seeming to point us toward the night sky.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Hi Lisa
I almost choked on my food when I read your name on the screen here, I almost had to call 911 for help! haha...a pleasant surprise to see you here once again. I get it though, you're so busy with MUCH more important humanitarian causes, but its good to take a break and spend time with us here as well :) When I see scenes like this i'm very jealous :) Even if it is cold, its so worth it to just get out there and see the wonderous sky in its purest form. Wonderful shot! high class. cheers

Ciao Lisa and welcomen back !
What an extraordinary photo ! At first, it made me think of a thunderstorm striking the tree…
The innumerable stars in the sky are very impressive. And what’s the light in the sky ?Sunset ? Sunrise ?.
Thanks for sharing and kindest regards.
Marie-Louise.

Hi Lisa
So nice to see you post on TE again! Welcome back. :-)
Amazing image, as always. The sky is breathtakingly beautiful and the tree makes for wonderful foreground interest and links the stars to the earth.

Hello Lisa,
It's a great surprise to see you posting on TE again. :-) You returned with a magical photo, too. This long exposure creates a mystical view, especially of the tree. The stars are bright and sharp, and the colors in the sky are beautiful. This looks like something from another world...
