Photographer's Note
This is a photo of Flinders Street Station in the heart of Melbourne. Last week, just near here, an Australian - "Christian" - deliberately drove his car into a crowd of people at the Bourke Street Mall. He killed five people: a 3 month old baby, a 10 year old little girl, a 25 year old young woman, a 33 year old father of 2 and a 22 year old young woman. Seven people remain in hospital, two of them are fighting for their lives.
The media are branding it the act of a crazy lone wolf. I am sure if the killer was Muslim, they would be branding this terrorism. I call it what it is.
My heart goes out to the victims and their families of this act of terrorism.

Ciao Lisa,
I don't know if you heard that Québec City experienced the same thihg last week. But it was the other way around. White lone wolf killed six muslims praying in their mosque.
Where is the world going?

Hello Lisa,
There's nothing wrong with the photo of the illuminated and nicely adorned façade of the station, but this upload is obviously mainly a reason to condemn the wave of fascism and rightwing terrorism plaguing ever more countries. And rightly so. There is still some reluctance to call the Norwegian Nazi who killed 77 persons a few years ago a terrorist. Hats off to the Canadian government which quickly used the correct description of the rightwing extremist who shot a number of people in a mosque in Quebec.
Did I say it's a nice photo? I think I did ;-)
Kind regards,
Gert

A beautiful picture, but your note puts the beauty of the railway station at night and the beauty of Monet's art advertized into perspective. These are sad and crazy times.
Fully agree with your note, I made the same comment about the mosque attack in Canada.

Hello dear Lisa,
we were shocked and sad by the news of this attack too. it got very wide coverage in the news for days. The media had instant and easy access, the people had another sad chance to see that there are so many problems within our modern societies, it's not only terrorism that has to be faced and cured. I appreciate both your photographic tribute and your note, I wish there was no reason for you to turn this fine photo into a tribute. Well done and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania

Ciao cara Lisa
Very beautiful photo and such a sad tribute...
Before I even read the second paragraph of your note, I thought to myself: "how come we have not heard about this, here, in the UK, whereas just a few weeks ago the media were full of reports of the Berlin tragedy?"
Sometimes this kind of propaganda of selective truth provides more dangerous brain washing tools than any lies ever could.
Very best wishes
Kasia

Ciao Lisa
è un peccato dover commentare una bella foto per un brutto atto di criminalità, sono due cose che non stanno insieme.
Purtroppo non riesco ad aggiungere altro, mi mancano le parole.

Hello Lisa,
I am really sorry to hear about this attack in Melbourne. I had missed it or it didn’t reach the Dutch news. This photo of the warmly lit façade of the station with its many fine details is a beautiful tribute to the victims of this act of terrorism.

Ciao Cara Lisa,
The beautiful, symmetrical, illuminated station-frontage gives no clue to the terrorism that happened here. It all looks so very peaceful and welcoming.
Whatever terminology we use to describe what happened will give no relief to the families of those killed or injured! I believe no religion advocates the indiscimate killing of other human beings! The people who perpetrate such crimes have been brainwashed by a brutal ideology. WE must take greater care of the upbringing of our youngsters! Violence seems to beget more violence!
I sincerely wish that violence was a no-no, that respect was an instinctive feeling and care for the environment was paramount. Is it too much like fiction!
I wish you a peaceful day,
Bev :-)

Hi Lisa
always great to see new posts from you, but not under these circumstances :(
so what was the update? I just looked it up myself.
so he had a history of domestic violence, and he had stabbed someone earlier that same day. I wonder what more news will come out about it.
sorry to hear about this, not even sure what to say.
I'm sure you know about the right winged extremist here in Quebec Canada and what he did - unthinkable.
I'll have to come to Australia one of these days :)
cheers

Hi Lisa,
This icon of Melbourne is quite suitable for a giving sympathies for Melbourneans. Those details look just great and warm yellow illumination is excellent. Really an iconic place and one of the most beatiful station fronts I've seen.
