Photographer's Note
I've been AWOL from TE for a while now as my mamma has been unwell again. She's been in hospital most recently after a fall with 2 broken arms and 4 broken ribs. She's on the mend slowly and is now giving us plenty of cheek. When the nurses ask her what her name is, she tells them it's "Wounded Dove". So I dedicate this photo of a swimming pool to my mamma, who loves swimming too.
In my Workshop is an artist's impression of Wounded Dove. (Mum thinks she's a Cree Indian).

Good Morning Lisa - Poor Wounded Dove, what a shame but I'm pleased to hear that she is on the mend and will soon be flying high again. Please give her a hug from me and wish her well!
As to your shot - beautiful! A strong and simple composition with your usual mastery over exposure. I love the twinkling lights in the distance as they add a pretty warm contrast to the more somber blues. A light on the horizon!
Take care dear Lisa. Rosemary

Hi Lisa,
Sorry to hear of your mum being poorly, I am sure she will be on the mend soon especially with all the humour, Wounded Dove, made me chuckle she must not as it will be soar..
Super photo of this ocean scene in Australia, fantastic colours and your Pov, using the wall and chains leading us in to the great view of the sea side town opposite in its night time lights on. Well done.
Cheers,
Iain.

Ta pauvre maman a dû bien souffrir et tu as dû être bien occupée pour la soigner. J'espère que sa situation va s'améliorer progressivement et qu'elle pourra bientôt retourner dans cette piscine au bord de mer que tu as bien photographiée.

Hello Lisa,
beautiful scene!I´m sure your mamma will love it as we do.
The color scheme makes the composition so moody(just love the combination of dominating blue color and so lovely contrasting artificial lights of the town in the far distance).Besides these blue shades here have also huge impact on the mood of the scene. In my opinion they add kind of mysterious look to the scene.
Magnificent composition!
Wish You all the best and my Best Regards to Your Mum

Hi Lisa,
So nice to see you post :)
I am sorry to hear about your mom, but I always think that when the cheek starts back, its a good sign of being on the mend. Positive Irish thoughts going out to you both. And you chose a beautiful shot here too; so many perfect photography elements. The lead into the scene from the pier, the crystal clear mirror effect from the water (amazing that I can see right though the water too to the stones at the bottom!!), the lights of the city, the TWO triangles and the perfect rule of thirds. This should be the cover for the Wounded Dove guide to photography perfection!!
Hope you and your mom are up and swimming around in no time at all!! Best of everything to you from the soggy old Emerald isle.

Hello Lisa
so sorry to hear about your Mama's health problems, much love to you and "wounded dove" for a speedy recovery. Mama's are precious and I know how much of a worry it is when they are not in full flight so to speak. A beautifully tranquil and tantalising composition, love the blues here and the silky sea. Blissful!

Ciao Lisa,
I am very sorry to hear your mum has been in the wars; it must have been a very severe fall. She sounds a very feisty lady and I'm pleased to hear she is getting back to her old self.
The point of view and the diagonal placement of the breakwater makes for a very strong composition. The image is expertly exposed with your usual care and has superb colours and sharpness. I like the repeating motifs of the posts and chain links along with their reflections.

Dear Lisa,
this is so attractive with the blue colors attracting the eye. Compositionally, the shot is well balanced – and the pier is giving the shot a great sense of depth. My compliments also for the kind dedication to your poor mum. I am crossing my fingers for a speedy recovery.
Warm regards

Ciao Lisa
She suffered a terrible fall. No wonder she doesn't remember her name. But she have her family around and she must feel the love.
With that heat down under, it must be very inconfortable in the hospital.
I wish you and your family all the best.

Hello dear Lisa,
I'm sorry about your mother's accident and that she has to suffer now. On the other hand, I'm glad recovery is going well and wish it will be as speedy and smooth as possible. Such a poetic way to describe her situation and feelings!:) Your picture is so lovely, calm and relaxing, I'm sure it has healing effects too. The blue tones are marvellous and i'ts wonderful to look at the distant coast and cityscape over the fine perspective and this enchanting blue. Congratulations and thank you! I hope you're ok and that things will get better with patience and time.
All the best, take care,
Ourania

Hello there my dear Lisa,
How are you doing? Difficult circumstances for sure, but by virtue of your note, a strong spirit and sense of strength reside. So glad to know that she's on the mend and doing better, this obviously marks a positive step forward in recovery. I'm more than confident this would make her proud! :)
A gentle and peaceful shot this is, and one that carries personal reflection. With an abundance of blue tones, this caught my eye right away...but there are also many smaller, more intricate details which makes this a compelling image. My favorite of which is the stillness of the foreground water on the left in contrast to the flowing tide and mist along the foreground coastline. The distant city lights are a wonderful compliment to the scene. Continued well wishes and big hugs! Take good care...the both of you! :)
Cheers from the States,
Jason

Howdy Lisa,
Sorry to hear your Mom had an accident and ended up with multiple fractures. Certainly no fun and painful.
Perhaps Mom can soak in the Coogee pool in your scene and heal quickly.
I acquired polio at the age of two. And water, via hot lengthy soaks in the tub helped to heal me, plus love from my family, spoiling me with attention.
I have always felt fortunate to be alive.
Best wishes,
Sincerely,
Ray

Ciao Lisuccia

Ciao Lisa,
I am really sorry to hear about your mamma being unwell. Broken ribs and arms sounds quite serious to me. But it sounds from what you wrote that she is in good hands and on the way to recover.
Beautiful photo so full of fantastic ambience makes a nice dedication. You have perfectly used the fence in the foreground together with its reflection to enhance the composition. We can see the subtle fog over the waves due to the long exposure -very impressive effect. Beautiful blue hour photo with unique blue color tones. A real master piece.

As in your photo Lisa, there is always light near the horizon. I am sure your mom will pass over the dark period towards those lights. Wish her a speedy recovery.
This is a superb blue hour shot, with those lights breaking the monotony of blue. Nice diagonal composition from a well chosen POV. I like your choice of title very apt. Thanks for sharing.

Ciao Lisa, I often think about your Mamma and I am worried about her health. so I am so sorry that she had this fall with multiple fractures. I am sure she makes everything to give you cheeks. How frail she must be now. Wounded dove - how beautifully she calls herself. I wish your Mom and you all the best, speed recovery and joyful swimming in Coogee.
Marvelous photo, you could print it and hang in the hospital wall.

Hi Lisa,
Diagonal line and clear blue water are quite strong elements on this. And long exposure makes it look smooth as always. Hmm, I saw many beaches, and at least at the moment I couldn't tell one from another.
Workshop is just lovely.
(Return trip went fine, read a lot and managed to sleep longer than usual on a plane.)

Hi Lisa
you're well known on TE for posting dedications, but this one is probably at the top of the list :)
Does your mom know you posted this with her in mind?
I wonder how she'd feel about it.
Honestly, I was thinking the worst for your mother when you told me what had happened...poor mom! So happy to hear she's on the mend, and there's no better prognosis than seeing that wit she normally has...no doctor can give that prognosis!
lovely dedication post. Keep positive!
cheers

Cara Lisa

Dear Lisa,
I'm so sorry to hear about your mamma. It sounded like she is in a lot of pain, 2 broken arms and 4 Ribs. My father recently was also suffers from a fall and still in the hosp with severe head injuries and blood concussion. We don't expect him to come out of the hospital any time soon. I know what you are going through.
This is such a lovely image to dedicate to your mamma. She would be proud. I love the blue tone, so rich and deep like velvet. Love the composition using the pier to lead the viewers in to the bay and distance city lights. The WS of the Wounded Dove is so cute, reminded me something I would do as a kid. So pure and innocent. Not like me now, so naughty.
My sincere wish that your mamma a speedy recovery.

Cao cara Lisa,
A lovely thoughtful and endearing note and a fine dedication to your poor mamma. An inteersting workshop picture too. I do hope that she makes a quick recovery from her ordeal.
This is a beautifully composed photograph. I have read others' comments about the composition and whether or not the tip of the pier should have been truncated or not but, to me, it matters not a whit - the composition is excellent and, after all, the tip of the pier is just about to disappear anyway. The composition has a wonderfully strong boldness in the fore and mid grounds but that in the distance is much softer and more soothing.
The light and the colours are beautiful and you have made the very most of them. Perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness throughout.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.
