Photographer's Note
This picture is of Formiguinha (little ant)performing some acrobaticsat the 2006 Batukege Capoeira Batizado.
Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art developed initially by African slaves in Brazil, starting in the colonial period. Participants form a roda (circle) and take turns playing instruments, singing, and sparring in pairs in the centre of the circle. The game is marked by fluid acrobatic play, feints, subterfuge, and extensive use of groundwork, as well as sweeps, kicks, and headbutts. Technique and strategy are the key elements to playing a good game.
Batizados are large events and are very important for the group organizing it. It is the point in the year where the new members will be baptized officially into the group and receive their first cords and where the other members depending on their progress will get a new one.

Very nice shot, full of motion and joy. I like the way you captured the guy in the air and the expression of the members of the group, in particular the one in the middle with his arms up. The B&W was really a good option. Well done.

Great shot here Daryl, not only do we have the performer jumping high in the air, but also the the great crowd reactions as well. Nice work on the black and white as well, otherwise you may have risked the performer blending into the background.

Great motion effect. Nice blur to make the character look like he's moving. The eyes of everyone is well focused on the "entertainer":)
Good composition. Love the detail about the girl with the camera.. There's not the best quality but I think the BW conversion helps you out there.
