Photographer's Note

The quality od this picture is far from good but I thought its story is worth telling.
Hell's Gate is on the west coast of Tasmania. It is the entrance to Macquarie Harbour.
This picture is taken looking south east from the ocean towards the bay.
Although all looks rather idyllic on this photo its name is historical as one of Tasmania's main convict settlement was on Sarah island in the harbour (not on the photo). Sarah island was so isolated from everywhere (pretty much still is) that it "developed the reputation as one of the severest of the penal settlements". Thus the name the convicts gave to the entrance of the Harbour!
